At GROWN, we don’t make clothes for shelves. We make clothes for people and only what’s actually needed. The pre-order model lets us do exactly that. You order, we make. No guessing, no overstock, no clearance sales to shift what no one wanted in the first place. It’s slower, but that’s kind of the point. We’d rather wait a few extra weeks and make something properly than add to the mountains of waste the clothing industry leaves behind every year.
You’ve probably seen the photos from Chile’s Atacama Desert. Endless dunes of unworn clothes, many of them brand new, dumped there because fast fashion can’t stop producing. Most of the waste in fashion happens before a garment even meets a person. Overproduction, poor forecasting, chasing trends that die in a week. It’s all part of a system that moves too fast to care. We wanted nothing to do with that.
So we flipped it. We slowed everything down. We call it Rolling Slow — it’s how we design, make and live. It gives us time to get things right. Time to talk to you, to share what we’re building and why. When you pre-order, you’re not buying something off a shelf; you’re part of the reason it exists.
Every pre-order tells us exactly what to make and nothing more. That alone cuts waste by over 90%. It also means fairer prices, because we’re not covering the cost of piles of unsold stock or fake “sales” at the end of a season. It’s honest, transparent and deliberate — the way clothing should be.
